The countdown begins…you look around surrounded by your friends…you feel hopeful that this year will be better than the last. For a moment, time stands still as you think back to all the good and the bad from the past year that led you to this moment.
3… 2… 1… the crowd erupts in cheers. Friends hugging one another and lovers sharing that special new year kiss. You hear your favorite artist wishing you a happy new year. You have a clean slate to promise yourself to another great year. I personally love New Years for that feeling, even better getting to experience this at a music festival. As the year is coming to a close, music festivals are popping up around the country to provide that experiences for you to ring in 2019.
Over the coming weeks I’ll be highlighting the various music festivals around the US that will be happening on or around New Years.
Let’s Talk About Countdown NYE
Countdown NYE has always been a destination for ravers for New Years. Insomniac always brings the production and an insane lineup to match. I was interested to see how this year’s lineup would turn out after hearing that they are scaling the festival down to just one day for New Year’s Eve. There was no report as to why this occurred, but it’s safe to say Insomniac scaled back because they added an Audiotistic one day festival in Southern California for December 29, 2018. Get that coin Pasquale.
Let’s get back to Countdown though…
Countdown NYE Lineup
This lineup does have some standout artists. This is the first time I’m seeing Dillon Francis on a New Years lineup this cycle. Some other standout artists that would interest me in attending also include: CID, Justin Martin, Graves, Hekler, RL Grime, Shiba San and Zedd. All in all, it’s a great lineup that caters to just about everyones music tastes. I would be concerned with the time conflicts since it is one day.
The Venue
NOS Events Center is one of my favorite venues to run around. It’s so spacious and Insomniac does such a great job of converting the venue to fit the theme of the festival. It’s also easy to get to and there are a lot of cheap options around it when it comes to hotels and airbnbs.
If you are interested in going to Countdown NYE, here’s somethings to consider:
- The Lineup!: if it’s for you or not
- Travel: Are you willing to travel and how much would it cost (i.e. driving vs. flying)?
- Lodging: Where would you stay and how much would it cost?
Ticket Information
You can get your tickets here. You can also get a ticket to both Audiotistic and Countdown as a combo price if you’re interested in attending both!
I hope this helps! You can also checkout a review of last year. Let me know if you’re going to Countdown!
