Happy Thanksgiving! Just wanted to share what I’m thankful for this year. At my co-working space they are creating a wall of gratitude and the question on the piece of paper I’d contribute to the wall was to write three things that I’m deeply grateful for my life this year. It took me a while to think about it but this year I’m grateful for: graduating from ASU, moving to Austin and having the support of my family and friends along the way.
Graduated from ASU
Graduating from ASU was bittersweet. I loved my time at ASU and so happy I went to this school for all of the memories and connections I made with people. Being graduated has its pluses of not having to think about homework or tests again; but then it’s weird because the social aspect of it will fade away. I’m proud of all the work I was able to accomplish in my four years and I know it has prepared me for my future. Saying I have a degree now is a feat in itself and I’m happy I worked hard to earn it.
Moving to Austin
It wasn’t easy to just pick up everything and move but moving to Austin has made its way to probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. Living in Arizona all my life has been great, but it was time for a change in scenery. What I’m doing now in Austin greatly aligns with my career goals. Austin is a growing city and there is so much to do. My job is great, my apprenticeship program is challenging but exactly what I need to jumpstart my career in digital marketing. Taking time for myself in Austin has helped me grow in such a short amount of time. It’s the reason I got the courage to even launch Vibe With Ade and I’m so happy I did. I’ve already made some great friendships here so I’m excited to continue to live here and truly make a life.
Friends and Family’s Support
I honestly feel like one of the luckiest girls in the world to have the support system that I do. My parents were patient with me in finding a job after I graduated and trusted I’d find something I loved. They helped me move to Austin and made sure I was more than prepared to take on this “adulting” phase of my life. You’re probably reading this mom and dad but I can never thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me my whole life. I can only hope and pray I can return it back to you one day. As for my friends, it has been a weird time where I feel like some friendships just outgrew themselves and others flourished. I have really taken the time to evaluate my friendships and who I want to surround myself with. It’s really important to recognize who your energy increases and decreases around. I’ve taken the time to notice and only want to be around those where I feel loved and supported. From me moving to Austin, there are friends I’ve stayed in touch with that make it exciting to visit home and as well have made friends here in Austin that I know are going to be some pretty long-lasting friendships. Thank you to my friends for always being there and also supporting my crazy idea called Vibe With Ade. Without your support, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to launch and continue to grow this blog.
I am feeling really grateful this year. I think when you move away and start somewhere new it really is a refreshing time to look back on everything. I’ve really taken the time to appreciate where I came from and where I’m going. I really feel like I’ve grown so much and am coming into my own. I’m really excited to see what lies ahead. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with lots of yummy food and joyful times with your loved ones!
