Hey Vibe Tribe!
This year, Lost Lands stepped the game up! As someone who went both years, this year’s production was on a whole other level. Lost Lands is one of my favorite festivals, and I really did not think Excision could top last year, but he absolutely did! He really was not kidding when he said 3x more GIANT dinosaurs and the 1M watts of bass.
Lost Lands Last Year…
This year was a lot different than last year, both good and bad. I think anyone will agree with me when I say that the festival should have stayed at the end of September, like last year. This year, they moved it up two weeks, and when I say it was way too hot, IT WAS WAY TOO HOT! I thought Forest was going to be the hottest festival I attended this year, but I was wrong. But the heat never stopped us! Last year, the weather was perfect. Cute rave outfits during the day, and (for me) onesies at night. Lost Lands did a really good job with warning people about the heat and telling everyone to stay hydrated. They put a $2 cap on bottled water and they even allowed you to bring 2 sealed water bottles into the venue. The crowd was also a lot bigger this year compared to last year, in my opinion, it was too many people. I knew they were going to sell more tickets this year, but I was not expecting that many people.
Lost Lands This Year…
Lost Lands is a headbangers paradise! Some of my favorite sets were Excision’s set night one, Illenium, Rusko, Jauz, Said the Sky, and the Special Guest… DJ DEISEL!! We had heard that Shaq was going to be the Special Guest, and when he came out, I don’t think I have ever seen everyone so excited before! Definitely one of my favorite moments from Lost Lands was when he came out. I’ll never forget that moment with everyone around me. It’s pretty hard to decide which set was my favorite. Illenium will always be a top set for me, seeing as I live and breathe for that man. His set was the heaviest I have ever seen from him, and probably in my top 3. They way he puts you in your feels then the next thing you know, you are headbanging and crying at the same time. This was my first time seeing Rusko and I already cannot wait to see him again. I would have to say my favorite set, was Said the Sky’s. I love my wubs just as much as anyone else, but we ended Lost Lands with him and that was the best way to do it for us. After a long, hot weekend, it was really nice to have a chill vibey set.
2017 vs. 2018?
If I had to choose which year I liked better, I would have to say it’d be last year. Everything about last year was perfect, but I would say production was a lot better this year. They got rid of Cave of Souls, and they made Wompy Woods. Personally, Wompy Woods was better than the Paradox. They filled Wompy with dinosaurs and the pillars on the sides that showed visuals. Sound camps was something new this year and we were pretty excited to check them out! When we did, it was crazy to say the least. I love the idea of the Sound Camps, but I think they need less of them. It was way too crowded at each camp and really hard to walk through. That is my only complaint with the Sound Camps, other than that, the camps were awesome. Anything to keep the music going!
Overall, Lost Lands is an amazing festival. If you are down for the bass, dubstep, and breaking your neck for 3 days straight, I would definitetly recommend going! Excision does a great job with Lost Lands, and it’s only going to keep getting better. I probably will not be attending next year. Reason being, is my boyfriend & I are wanting to try out new festivals next year. I can already tell you, my FOMO for next year is already setting in!
