Tips to Prepare
I gathered tips from EDC vets as well as included some of my own to help you prepare. Scroll for the FAQ as submitted to my Instagram. You can also checkout my Ultimate Guide to EDC Las Vegas for more info.
What to Bring/Pack
These are the most mentioned items to bring/pack:
- Hydration Pack or Reusable Water Bottle
- Pedialyte Packets
- Fan
- Ibuprofen
- COMFY SHOES
- Wet wipes and hand sanitizer
- Earplugs
Where to Stay
- Stay on the strip if you’re 21, do the pool parties.
- Airbnbs are an option if you can find one for your squad that’s close to the Speedway
- I’ve heard great things about CAMP EDC!
Getting to the Venue
- Get there early to avoid traffic
- Do the shuttles if you are staying on the strip, safest easiest way to go
- Prepare for long travel times to and from the venue
- If you are parking, place a pin so you can find your car when it’s over 🙂
How to Survive
- Eat well and drink lots of water leading up to EDC
- Plan out a supplement regimen to help your body recoup after reach day & restore energy: 5-HTP, Magnesium, Vitamin C are huge
- If you’re doing pool parties at Camp EDC or EDC Week, take care of yourself! You don’t want to get burned out before you even get to EDC
- Don’t forget to sleep! Sleep is so important to get as much as you can in between days
- HYDRATE and take breaks. You can stand in the back and have just as much fun.
- It’s OKAY to take a break from all the sets and roam around. EDC has surprises everywhere.
- Crowd can be overwhelming if you’re up close there’s tons of room towards the back and the best view is middle/back.
- If you are easily anxious or have a weak stomach, chill in the back the front of stages can be very overwhelming.
- Save your energy and PACE YOURSELF
- Know where the water stations/med tents/stages/shuttle stops are
- Ground Control is your friend! Don’t be afraid to ask them for help 🙂
- Establish an emergency meeting spot once you get in because there is no cell phone signal
How to Enjoy EDC
- Map out the whole fest on foot the first day. You’ll figure out where everything is and even find many shortcuts
- Don’t spend all your time at one stage, see at least 1 set per stage and explore
- Going with a group is a blast, but don’t stress yourself trying to stick together. Make a totem so you can find each other at different sets if you get split up.
- Plan your schedule out, but don’t get stressed out about it, go with the flow.
- Go. On. The. Rides.
- Make friends with those around you. I’ve made life long friends from strangers right next to me
- Don’t miss a set you’re dying to see just because your friends don’t go!
- Explore! There’s so much to see and do. Don’t get stuck at one stage
Other Tips
- Overprepare! Bring anything you might even not think you need because you’ll need it
- Security can take anywhere between 10 minutes to 30 minutes or more depending on when you get to EDC. Go early to avoid long wait times.
FAQs
First time at EDC and first rave ever, what to expect?
Oh boy, welcome!!!! Checkout my videos from EDC last year and read this.
Does it get cold at night?
With the new dates placing EDC in May, it did not get cold. It was way windier last year, but the weather temperature wise was perfect. Not too hot or cold.
How much for the stay at EDC?
EDC can easily be a $1000 trip between your ticket, flights, where you’re staying and more. Save up and find ways to reduce costs.
How close should I try to stay to the racetrack (if not camping)?
As close as you can afford and can! It’ll save you the headache of waiting in traffic when you’re excited to get to EDC!

Shuttle experience?
My EDC 2017 shuttle experience wasn’t ideal, I don’t recommend the shuttles; HOWEVER, I heard they improved them a ton in 2018 and if you are staying on or near the strip it might be the only viable option. Ride shares can get expensive and if no one can drive in your group then I’d recommend the shuttles.
Was premiere parking worth it?
If you are staying outside of the strip say at an Airbnb or even if you don’t want to take the shuttles, I highly recommend doing premiere parking. You by pass all the traffic and can get home at a decent hour.
How do you prevent thigh chafing?
Baby powder apply to area before and after 🙂
Tips for getting ready (makeup/hair) especially if camping?
Get a good setting spray and powder to have your makeup last. Camping as outlets so you can bring a straightener and curling iron or do low maintenance hairstyles like braids, ponytails, space buns etc. Pinterest music festival hair and see what comes up.
What shoes do you recommend?
Whatever shoes you chose, add Dr. Scholls. If you find your feet getting blisters or hurt from platforms, boots, etc., make sure you bring comfy running shoes. If you are ordering shoes for a specific outfit for EDC, BREAK THEM IN.
Best spots to sit and relax for a few minutes?
Cosmic Meadows stage has bleachers and grass! There are also some grass areas near the stage too. Sit in the grass if it’s not a packed set. The bleachers are perfect so you can still see the stage and watch the artist playing at that time.
Which water stations are the least crowded?
I always went to the ones in between Circuit Grounds and Wasteland and never had any issues!
Allowed items we can bring to sit down on?
Here’s the list from EDC’s site. You can try bringing a small towel, I wear a pashmina from time to time and have used that. There are bleachers to sit on at Cosmic Meadow stage if you aren’t able to bring anything to sit on!
How do I even prepare for the fireworks?
You don’t 😉
Hope these tips are helpful and I hope you have an amazing time under the electric sky!
