Spooky time is here and I know what this time typically looks like for you. Your bank account is hanging by a thread because you just bought EDC tickets and camping or you went a little too hard earlier in festival season. You’re getting ready to go to Escape or Freaky Deaky and have no idea what the heck to wear since you can’t afford any new rave clothes. Trust me I’ve been there.
Would you believe me if I told you that you could re-wear your rave clothes and make a festival costume out of it?
I know we think it’s a travesty to re-wear a rave outfit twice; however, when you’re a budgeting king or queen sometimes you got to do what you go to do. Here are my best tips for creating your Halloween looks this spooky season.
Let’s Take a Stroll in Your Closet…
Take inventory of what you have in your closet. Take note of any bold prints, holographic, sequins, etc. Pieces you can mix and match, etc. You’ll be able to get creative based on what you already have. I had a friend have a sequin kimono and all it took was for her to get a headpiece to be a fortune teller. Neon colors or holographic colors and you’re an alien. Checkered print and you’re a race car driver. All it takes is a little imagination and inspo to craft a new outfit.
Here are some ideas of simple outfits that you can do with what you already own and just might take some accessories and makeup to accomplish.
Once you’ve taken inventory of what’s in your closet here’s what you can do to add to the outfit.
Accessories
Add a headpiece, jewelry, or even a prop to complete the look. The way you accessorize can greatly pull a look together. It may cost a little money to add certain pieces, but not as much as buying a whole new outfit. For headpieces, I’ll typically look to BrittsBlossoms. Magical Minnie is also awesome for headpieces and accessories. A lot of girls love Kritter Klips as well. One overlooked accessory sometimes is a wig which you can find super cheap on Amazon or invest in a high-quality one from somewhere like Lit Unicorns. For body chains, my go-to is MoonChain Body Chains or Scarlet’s Addictions. When in doubt, I do look at Amazon for some items. I’ve gotten things like cowboy hats and the famous thug life glasses to help with my outfits.

Makeup
Makeup can go a very long way. Even if you’re not good at makeup like I am, you can do things with gems and glitter to spice up any look. There are tons of YouTube tutorials out there so you can learn and practice to make it perfect.
All else fails… exchange rave clothes with your friends!
Reach out to your friends if they have any rave clothes you can borrow or buy from them. Most of the time their clothes aren’t getting much use either so you can have them take a look at your closet and do a little rave clothes exchange.
I hope this helps give you some peace of mind in creating your Halloween looks. There is no need to stress. Wear what you’ll feel comfortable in and enjoy your time at the festival or event you’re attending.
