Buckle yourselves up people as I returned from Ubbi Dubbi festival in Fort Wort, Texas for the last weekend of April. I was a tad bit skeptical of this festival when it was first released at the end of last year. I was skeptical because the name of it, the two characters they were promoting called Ubbi and Dubbi and the whole marketing behind it as well as a venue I had never been to nor has a lot of Texas been to. They delivered on an insane lineup and as the months got closer Ubbi and Dubbi kinda grew on me. I made my way to Fort Worth, Texas to see how the weekend would unfold.
The Location
It was interesting because they said the venue was Panther Island Pavilion but the grassy part it was on was actually called Heritage Park when you looked at the map. You had to cross a pedestrian bridge to get to security then you entered the gates of the festival where you saw Ubbi Stage (main stage). It felt kind of small like it was this sliver of grass alongside the river. The distance between Ubbi stage and Dubbi stage was a WALK. Definitely nice to take a break, but definitely had to factor in walking time between the stages with Zoom Room stage being in the middle.
The Stages
Ubbi Stage
I will say Ubbi’s stage design was awesome and unlike anything I’ve seen before from a Texas festival. The sound quality was pretty solid if you were in the back which I appreciated. Overall the stage did feel pretty cramped when it got to the main headliners like Illenium. Even when I saw Joyryde towards the back it was pretty packed. Luckily, there’s a hill that you could post up on if you wanted to chill out, but still, have a good view of the stage.
Dubbi Stage
I mostly stayed at this stage throughout the weekend to see Space Jesus, Zeds Dead, Peekaboo, Drezo and other awesome artists throw down. Production was similar to what we’ve seen from Disco Donnie Events. My only issue was the sound for Zeds Dead all the way in the back was super quiet so we ended up having to move up to the left and the sound improved. I’m not sure if there was a sound ordinance or something why it couldn’t be louder, but for how long the distance was between Dubbi stage and the other stages you think they’d bump it up for all the bass and dubstep artists there were.
Zoom Room Stage
My FAVORITE stage. The sound at this stage, the vibes, the people, the music was all ON POINT. Surprise surprise my favorite stage was the house stage, but it was the best. Tons of room to dance, the bass just hit your soul and I loved every set I saw there.
The Music
Day 1
Favorite Set: Matroda – Oh boy if you have never seen Matroda, add him to your list NOW. Every drop I was just in awe he had so many surprises in there. Such a good cohesive and high energy house set.
Honorable Mention: Zeds Dead – Zeds Dead in the RAIN. That’s it. Even though they had to cut the set early because of the thunderstorm, it was an awesome set. I hadn’t seen Zeds Dead since EDC 2018 so I was super excited and it made me even more excited to see them at Electric Forest.
First Time Seeing: SPACE JESUS & CID – These two were high on my list to see and it was amazing. Space Jesus was all the weird wubs and sounds I imagined I’d hear. CID was an awesome set to kick off day 1. I had been a huge fan for a while. Think Don Diablo and Oliver Heldens had a child and that’s a CID set.
Day 2
Favorite Set: Walker & Royce – Walker & Royce was one of my favorites on Holy Ship! and I didn’t know how they’d top that set. For Ubbi Dubbi, they delivered. I was grooving and shuffling the whole time and even broke out my pixel whip to flow to it.
Honorable Mention: Chris Lake & Illenium – Honorable mention for these two because it was the 8th time I’d seen them making them my most watched artist :’)
First Time Seeing: ARMNHMR, Peekaboo, Graves & Weiss – Going to music festivals for me is all about seeing artists I haven’t yet. I was so happy to check out these artists and cross them off my list.
Overall Experience
It’s first year was awesome and I’m excited to see how it grows. The venue felt small and my only recommendation would be to have another water station closer to Dubbi stage. There was also an issue with the water pressure making lines super long so if there’s a way to fix that for next year. Day 1 was rough getting water, but day 2 greatly improved. Finally, getting out of the parking lot day 1 was a little bit of a nightmare. After having to evacuate to our cars for the thunderstorm, we stayed in the parking lot for 40 minutes most likely due to traffic getting out. Day 2 we parked on the street near the entrance and didn’t have to worry about that.
I also really enjoyed the art installations they had and areas to sit. We didn’t have any issues with the crowd, Texas always has the best vibes. Thank you to everyone that said hi to me throughout the weekend. All in all, I’d give Ubbi Dubbi a solid 9/10 and we’ll see how it improves for next year.

Hi Ade! I found your blog searching for whether not a VIP ticket to Ubbi Dubbi is worth it or not. Thank you for all the info on Ubbi Dubbi 2019, that was helpful. What is your recommendation? In case it changes your answer, this will be my very first festival! I’m super excited.

Hi Taylor! I haven’t done VIP for Ubbi Dubbi, but I did do it for Freaky Deaky which is run by the same company and thought it was worth it for the bathrooms alone and separate viewing areas. Hope this helps 🙂
