Get Lucky 2019 Recap

By Elena Martinez

Salt Lake City and the rave scene is amazing. The people, the vibes and just everything about it amazes me. Every time I go to Utah for a show or festival something just sparks. It gets better every time.

First the Travel

Whether you’re traveling far or just a few hours, it’s simply a beautiful journey filled with mountains, trees, and picturesque mature. For me, it’s about a 5-6 hour drive. The drive feels shorter every time and I seem to appreciate it more.

Next a Place to Stay

There are a ton of hotels, motels, or even Airbnbs in Salt Lake City. The best place I personally like to stay is by the airport, it’s affordable and nice. There’s probably over 10 hotels just in that area. The drive from the hotel to the Saltiar is only about 10 minutes. It’s convenient to be that close so you don’t have to drive far. The drive from downtown Salt Lake City to the Saltiar is about 30ish minutes, so being closer is just more reasonable.

Get Lucky Experience

This festival is a two day festival with a lot of house and hardstyle. They also through a little bit of bass in there. The main headliners for this festival were Borgore day one and Rezz day two. Along with a few of my favorites such as Bijou, Herobust, Champagne Drip, Party Favor, Liquid Stranger, and the list goes on. The way Get Lucky is set up is there is the main stage which is inside the Saltiar, and the tent outside where all the good vibes are, mainly house and hardstyle play outside. Outside, there’s a big grass area. If you get tired on your feet, you’re able to sit down relax while still enjoying the music. I like the way it’s set up because it can get incredibly hot in the inside stage so it’s nice to have the transition between the two, as well as an area outside.

Day One

The cold always has it sets back, as it was super cold, and a little snowy. We got there as soon as doors opened at 7:00 pm and it was definitely worth going early. There were no lines to exchange our tickets for wristbands so we ran right inside and got warm. We were excited to see Champange Drip who played at 8. There was 2 stages, but we mainly spent the whole night inside dancing around. My favorite sets from this night was Borgore, and Herobust. Bro Safari was on the lineup but ended up being sick so Svdden Death took his spot & it made the whole night way better. Night one can always have its ups and downs, but being familiar with the area and the people it always makes it better.

Day Two

As for most people, the second day is always a little better, but this time I disagree mainly depending on what type of music & DJs you like. The headliners for day two was Rezz and Party Favor. I mean who doesn’t love Rezz. The only downside was everyone loves Rezz so much that the whole inside stage was packed. You couldn’t move a single part of your body. Still worth it. Sets that I saw on day two, were both inside and outside. We tried to stay inside most of the time because it was freezing and our outfits definitely weren’t made for the cold weather. Some of the DJs that played outside were LSDream, Liquid Stranger, and Party Favor. The DJs playing inside we’re Bijou, Malaa, and Rezz. Both the stages had great music and vibes, so we saw half and half of every DJ playing.

Overall Experience

I love going to Utah since I have been there a lot. You meet so many people and see them at all the shows. The rave scene and the vibes there are amazing. Going to a new area for a festival is the best you meet so many new and genuine people, plus the music is always so good. Plus the outfit planning, it’s all such a dream. I love every chance I get to attend new festivals in different states as opposed to going to the same festivals.
