Howdy partners. If you’re here, you probably already bought your ticket to Global Dance in Denver for July 19th and 20th. If you’re here and haven’t bought your ticket yet, you should stop reading now and check your bank account.
A year ago, I visited Colorado for the first time with friends to attend Dead Rocks and had such a great time dancing, hiking, and meeting awesome people that I moved here a couple of months later. Since then, I have acquired all the fun and exciting things to do in the greater Denver area. I’m here now to share my findings with y’all (btw I’m from Texas in case you couldn’t tell).
Food
This one’s important. When I go visit other cities and towns on my music adventures, I do my best to try places I can’t go to where I live. So if I always go to Chick-Fil-A at home (which I do), I try to eat somewhere more specific to that area.
My first recommendation is Watercourse Foods. It is an all vegan restaurant that is so delicious, your meal will have you asking your server if they are sure it’s ALL vegan. My personal recommendation get the buffalo cauliflower wings.
Don’t forget about Marquis Theater. The best pizza I’ve tried since I’ve been here in Colorado and mouth-watering Ranch. $4 will get you a slice bigger than your Excision/Illenium perler you brought for the b2b.
If you are just looking for typical, easy American food, stop by Table 6 and try some Chocolate Beignets.
Drinks
Escapology – An escape room merged with the idea that alcohol will assist you in solving puzzles. A lot of fun if you and your squad show up a day early or have an extra day after the festival.
1Up – A personal favorite of mine. Enjoy an alcoholic slushii while playing retro PacMan at this nostalgic ‘80s style arcade bar.
Pedal Hopper – Take a cart ride with your friends and get drunk as a guy wearing a fedora and has 20k karma on Reddit drives you around on a bike driven carriage.
Sightseeing
Denver Botanical Gardens – Reconnect with nature in the middle of a city with themed gardens and even a sunken amphitheater with live music.
Lookout Mountain – Whether you want to look out over the grand Colorado backdrop, or take an exciting selfie, Lookout Mountain is only a 30-40 min drive west of Denver. I highly recommend catching a sunset out there while you are here.
Sports
If you are a sports fan and worried there is nothing for you to do in Denver, think again. Coors Field is located in the heart of downtown and tickets to some Rockies games start as low as $10. Drinking a chilled Coors Light, at Coors Field is something I recommend everyone try at some point.
Have Fun and Be Safe
The lineup this year for Global Dance covers a wide variety of genres and artists so prepare for a magical time. This also means there will be a lot of people attending and in town so drive carefully and plan ahead. Denver has a lot of traffic during rush hour, but rideshares are everywhere so watch surge pricing. Most importantly, stay safe and dance until you’re sore!
