We’ve been curious to see what the future of festivals would look like in this new normal of living with COVID and here it is: Drive-Ins. I can’t remember the last time I went to a drive-in movie, but it makes sense. You get to enjoy a form of entertainment from the comfort of your car and in this case, our favorite dance music with a socially distanced crowd of festival-goers.
Meet EDM Drive-in
Germany was the first to bring this idea to life and now it’s taking over in the states. For my Texas rave fam, this is something you do not want to miss. EDM Drive-in will debut in San Antonio, Texas at the Freeman Coliseum Grounds on Friday June 26 and Saturday June 27. Presale tickets go on sale May 29 if you are wanting to hop on this cannot miss event asap.
Here’s the tea on this:
- Exciting Lineup
- Multi-Genre Dance Music Experience
- Full-On Stage Production
- Raising Money for a Good Sause
- Safest Way to Party to Get Your Fix
In conjunction with the local charity Aueda, the “Electric-Fiesta” team will raise money for entertainers affected by the coronavirus crisis and hopes to provide many jobs for the local community through this event. They will also use donations to support the Rey Feo Education Scholarship for high school seniors and the Whet Foundation Covid-19 Relief Fund will benefit the local community through special grants.
EDM Drive-in is put on by The Electric-Fiesta team which is comprised of Fred Reyes (President) and CEO and Founder of SiteB Data and former member of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Sid Zuber (Operations/Production/Logistics Specialist) who worked with Goldenvoice/Coachella for over 13 years and designed numerous touring gigs throughout the decades, Miguel “Migs” Lizarraga or @veranmiky (Brand Director & Head of Media/Marketing), a San Diego native and SDSU grad, Migs is the Media Director for Groove Cruise and tour media for Dash Berlin.
Is it safe though?
Yes! Cars will be parked spaced out and facing the stage so that guests can enjoy the show from the comfort of their seat or in the car’s circumference. With a max capacity of 300-350 vehicles, the gathering will be intimate and special for those who get a spot. Festival planners have collaborated with Bexar County Officials, Local Health Departments, Bexar County Sheriff , the Fire Marshall, and the venue team on logistics that meet regulations.
I’m excited to get that feeling we’ve all been missing by experiencing live music. It’s not ideal, but it’s the best option to keep the festival spirit alive this year.
Ok I’m sold, how do I get a ticket?
Presale tickets go on sale on May 29th, visit EDM Drive-in for more info. Details on ticket prices, lineup, live stream will be coming soon.

But the origins of EDM Maniac stemmed from a pure love of music almost a decade ago as a warehouse party series hosted throughout the Los Angeles area. At the time, the parties were created to bring fans together to enjoy music in a safe space. Since then, EDM Maniac evolved into the publication it is today that aims to inspire and connect the dance music community.
