Festival Fashion Brands to Watch in 2019: Rave After Rave Apparel

I’m introducing a new series that I am SO excited for. There are a lot of festival fashion brands in the space. Some big and some small. I wanted to feature some brands that I think are truly talented and challenging the status quo in festival fashion. So for the next couple of weeks I will be highlighting FIVE festival fashion brands to watch in 2019. I was so honored to interview these brands. It was a real treat getting to know them more as well and I am so excited to share their answers so you can get to know them better.

Introducing, Rave After Rave Apparel created by 22 year old Alyssa who currently lives in San Diego, California. I found Rave After Rave on Instagram and was obsessed by the prints Alyssa has curated for her designs, they were unlike a lot of the prints we usually see circulate around the festival fashion scene. Keep reading to learn more about Rave After Rave and why they are a brand to watch in 2019.

What inspired you to start Rave After Rave?

For every festival or show I went to, I loved styling my outfit to match the theme or the vibes of each event. For me, the most important thing about rave wear is comfort—and that goes along with the clothes fitting right, who I’m going to see that day (Odesza vs. Excision), the venue layout, and the weather. Because I’m so petite, it’s often hard for me to find the right pieces to create my vision of outfit. Rave after rave, festival after festival, I grew a love for festival fashion and how it’s changed over the years. Finding new prints and patterns genuinely excite me! It all inspired me to create my own clothing pieces earlier this year. I bought a used sewing machine even though I had no idea how to sew at the time! After graduation, I had free time, so I taught myself as I went and created pieces for my friends and myself. I received great feedback from my friends and festival-goers, that I decided to open a shop and share my love, joy, and happiness with everyone else!

Any meaning behind the name?

I touched on this in that last question, but “Rave After Rave” originated because I love styling my outfits to match the theme or vibe of each rave. Rave, after rave, inspires many of the prints I choose and name in my shop.

What differentiates you between other brands?

I believe that my branding differs than other brands. With “Rave after Rave” as my inspiration, the prints and names I choose are what I would wear to those events. I want the brand to embody who I am, and to be able to share those ideas and looks with everyone else. With that being said though, I don’t expect my customers to wear those exact looks to each specific event. They’re just my ideas. I try to keep it very versatile, so that people are able to wear my pieces to any event or occasion. Another thing that differentiates me from other major brands is that I’m a small business, so most of my items are made to order and it gives me a lot of leeway to be able to do custom orders and change it up a lot!

Do you do this full-time?

Yes!

Favorite part of your job

Oh gosh, there are a lot of things I love about my job. Since I design, produce, and run all of the operations on my own, it can get very overwhelming on some days. My customers are the ones who keep me going. I love seeing that they’re happy and being able to provide them with products that they love as much as I do. Their positive feedback and encouraging words about my work mean everything to me! I enjoy being a small business because it allows me to build a real relationship with a lot of my customers.

Favorite festival you have been to

Okeechobee! It’s my happy place ☺. It’s what actually inspired my first released print “OkeeBabe.” I also have an Okee portal tattoo!!

Favorite artist

Flume! He really knows how to take the crowd on a spiritual journey during his live sets. The moments and memories he has created for my friends and I will always have a special place in my heart.

What can we expect from your brand in 2019?

Definitely new goodies! New prints and new styles! It just going to take me some time to be able to release all of it. I have something really special in the works right now!!

I really do appreciate all of the love and support I receive from my customers and followers. I am very humble for the opportunity to do something I am passionate about and to work within such an inspiring community. I wouldn’t be where I am without all of you, so thank you so SO much. <3
