Festival season is back ya’ll! I am so excited to share my experience at CRSSD this past weekend. This was my first ever CRSSD which is a two day festival that’s held at Waterfront Park in San Diego. It’s a house and techno festival that happens twice a year and I attended the Spring ‘20 Edition. It was an amazing weekend with incredible music and the best vibes. This was also my first 21+ festival aside from Holy Ship! so it was fun to see all the adults get to play and have some fun. Without further ado, let’s get into what I thought about CRSSD.
Pre-Festival Planning
I flew in Thursday from Austin and stayed with my friend with Rachel. We then checked into our Airbnb that was about 10-15 minutes from the venue. The festival is Saturday and Sunday so I flew out Monday afternoon. I flew in Thursday so I got to explore San Diego a little more which I highly recommend. I hadn’t been to San Diego since I was in college so it was great to see more of the city.
Cost
- Flights from Austin: $258.96
- Tickets: $205
- Pre-Party/After Party: $90
- Outfits: $35 (I reused a lot or borrowed)
- Merch: $100
- Food & Drink: $75
- Ubers & Lyfts: ~$60 (split with friends all weekend)
- TOTAL: $823.96

Getting To and From the Venue
We took rideshares both days and didn’t really have any issues. We got to the venue for doors on the first day so that we could get first pick at merch. Then Day 2 we got there closer to 4-4:30. Going there on Day 1 an UberXL was around $40 which split between the group wasn’t bad at all. Day 2 it was around the same.
On the way we back on the first day we left early so an UberX was about $20. The last day we left at the end so it was around $60 for an UberX. Not as bad as I thought it would be I was expecting $100+.
Security
We went super early on day 1 to cop that merch so we waited for doors to open. Security wasn’t all that thorough day 1 so it was a very smooth process. I heard towards the end of the day they were getting more thorough. Day 2 we went a little later around 4-4:30 and the line didn’t take that long time wise maybe 15 minutes for them to check our IDs, bags and tickets. Security was a little more thorough checking each pocket and checking shoes.
The Venue and Layout
CRSSD is held at Waterfront Park in San Diego. It is in the heart of the harbor and downtown which provides a beautiful landscape of being at a festival in the city while seeing the water alongside the festival. Three stages, two fountains you can run through and tons of food and drink options making CRSSD the ultimate adult playground. I loved the layout I felt like everything was really easy to get to and tons of options when it came to food and drink. Only thing that was messy was they put the lockers near the entrance and exit which caused some mayhem exiting the fest on the last day.
Stages and Production
CRSSD is spread across three stages that plays to the best of house, techno and pop electronic. Such amazing talent across the board that gave such a unique lineup. You could get down at The Palms to house or head over to City Steps for some body pumping techno. Or go to the main stage at Ocean View to vibe out to some of the live acts.

Crowd
The vibes tho? Such a good time. Aside from people forgetting to say excuse me, people were just there to have a good time and get funky to some house and techno. I didn’t really mind the crowd cause I was having such a good time with my friends.
Weather
The weather was so amazing for CRSSD. Usually CRSSD in the spring is known for having rain, but we had beautiful sunny weather during the day and then we could rock our House and Techno jackets at night.
Food and Drinks
I was super impressed by the many food options CRSSD had from Big Mozzarella sticks, Spicy Pie pizza and lots of vegan options. I had the most amazing vegan tots both days of the festival. Drinks were pricey so budget well for this if you decide to attend, it was $12 for ONE small White Claw. They also had yummy hard kombucha that was refreshing during the warm day.
Day Recaps
Day 1
Soundcheck
Favorite sets from day 1 included Nora en Pure who played at sunset at Ocean View. It was the most magical set. We had placed ourselves above the fountain and had an amazing view of the mainstage. Patrick Topping was also a highlight for me. I had never seen him before and his set had me shuffling the whole time.

Will I Attend Future CRSSDs?
I honestly would love to if the timing works out. It’s hard to make a trip out to CA for a two day event, but I had so much fun that I’d love to go again. It happens twice a year that I can see myself going at least once a year.
All in all, my first CRSSD was so amazing I hope I get to return again later this year. I highly recommend this festival as it is a well run festival and we had such a great time. Be sure to checkout my vlogs on YouTube to see how my CRSSD weekend unfolded.
