My vlog is now live from this year’s Austin City Limits (ACL). I absolutely love this festival because of how easy-going it is. Living in Austin and being able to attend this festival is so so great. This festival truly embodies what it means to be an Austinite and stays true to the “Keep Austin Weird” vibe.
The Experience
This was my second time attending ACL and felt overall the experience was even better this year. Logistically everything went well. Security only took max of 20 minutes. They had water stations throughout to keep attendees hydrated. What I love about ACL is the extra amenities they have at the festival. They have a beer hall, wine lounge, activities for kids, and so much more. It’s so fun to walk around and see all the different things they had for attendees.
The food of ACL is such a staple of this festival. If you ever go to ACL, try all the food in the ACL Eats area. All of the vendors are local to Austin and so delicious. I had an green chile empanada one day, slice of pizza another and a pretzel and cheese. The lines varied per vendor so I opted for the shorter lines, but loved all the food I had.
The Music
My favorite sets from the entire weekend included: Odesza, Illenium, and Justice. This was my first time seeing Odesza in three years. Finally seeing their new album “A Moment Apart” come to life was truly magical. They played some of their old favorites and intertwined with the new to really showcase how much they have grown as artists. This was my 7th time seeing Illenium and one of my favorite sets by him. Illenium has been trying to break out of the stigma that he just plays sad and slow songs. He threw down with some heavy dubstep and mixed it in with the vibey songs we all know and love by him. (p.s. I did catch his ACL Late Show the Friday of Weekend 2 of ACL and that 90 minute set was even better than ACL). Finally, I had caught some of Justice at Coachella but in the midst of the chaos I couldn’t see the full set. They closed out on day 2 and had brought their incredible production with them. My friends and I had the most fun at Justice where we just let loose and danced the night away.
Lastly, I can’t not mention seeing Paul McCartney. He isn’t even apart of my ranking of favorite sets because seeing him play was easily top memory of my life. I grew up listening to the Beatles so to see him play Hey Jude and see everyone united was incredible. I was something truly magical that I couldn’t rank. I feel very fortunate to have witnessed this. I will always cherish laying in the grass with my friends singing to Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da forever.
Outfit Details
The thing with ACL is that literally anything goes when it comes to your outfits. If you wanna be comfy in running shorts and shoes, go for it. If you wanna be decked out in glitter, do it. Literally you can wear whatever and everyone around is chill with it.
Day 1: I saw this red skirt in Forever 21 and knew it had to be mine. I paired it with a checkered bodysuit also from Forever 21 and my holographics Dollskill boots. I opted for a fanny pack by Vibedration this day as it was the hottest day and it matched the outfit better.
Day 2: Wearing an overall dress day 2 was definitely comfier than I expected. I paired it with a lace bodysuit from Forever 21 and my holographic boots. I had my Vibedration h2o pack for this day.
Day 3: Even on a stormy day, I felt my sunflower kimono from Dollskill was perfect for this day. I wore my running shoes on the last day as my feet were killing me. Also had my Vibedration h2o pack again.
Overall, I will attend ACL for as long as I live in this city. Even with hot weather, the people, the vibes and the music was everything I wanted and more. It was great to show my two best friends a great weekend in Austin. Can’t wait for next year already!
