1. Display your festival memorabilia
Use this as a time to create a bulletin board or shadow box of all your favorite festival memories. I have a blog post on how to do this and you can order supplies online if your local craft store is closed for now.
2. Throw your own solo at home raves with live sets & FaceTime with your rave squad
There are tons of live sets on YouTube that you can binge, FaceTime your friends and rock out together. Dance is still such a good release and therapy and can help you feel better. And getting to stay connected with your rave squad can also help.
3. Work on your rave booty
Just because you don’t have a gym doesn’t mean you can’t get a solid workout in. Emma Kapotes has a video on her channel for the rave booty. I’ll have a couple of at home workout vids coming out soon to help ya’ll out. If you need help getting motivated, FaceTime a friend. There are also tons of gyms and workout programs that are offering free online classes if you need more structure.
4. Make kandi and perlers
Stock up on kandi bracelets and perlers for when festival season kicks back up. You can order supplies online and find tutorials online.
5. Send a PLUR package to a friend
Put together a PLUR package of little trinkets and items to cheer up a friend.
6. Have your own at home rave photoshoot
Self-timer will become your best friend. I’ve down at home photoshoots in my festival outfits for brands. This is a great way to show off the outfits you already had planned. All you need is your phone and good lighting. If you’re looking to step it up, you could order a light and tripod. I also have a Bluetooth remote for my phone to take photos and set off the self-timer.
7. Play with festival makeup
Use this time to practice your makeup skills. There are tons of tutorials online. You can learn how to better apply gems and glitter.
8. Teach yourself how to shuffle, hoop or use a flow toy
For My Shufflers
If you’ve been wanting to learn how to shuffle, hoop or use a flow toy the time is now. There are tons of tutorials on shuffling online, you can also checkout the Shuffle Circle. My friend Brigitte runs that page with her friend Tyler and it’s a subscription where you pay for access to tons of videos. They also do private lessons too so definitely check them out. I have a playlist on YouTube of the shuffle tutorials that helped me.
For My Hoopers
If you’re looking to get into hooping I know my friend Ashleigh said The Spinsterz is doing free shipping right now and if you use her code “ashleighalexis” it comes out to $27 to hoop. She has some tutorials on her TikTok and has an IG for her hooping you can check her out at @ashleighalexis. Julie Zats is also another creator that comes to mind with hooping.
For My Flow Artists
I do have a code for GloFX if you’d want to pick up whipping or another flow toy. You can use VIBEWITHADE to save 10% off. I have been whipping for almost a year but I’ve gotten kind of stagnant so I’m hoping to take some time to reconnect with my whip during this period. There are a ton of tutorials on whipping on YouTube and there’s also a Facebook group called Dancing with Lightning if you’re looking for more info and tips on whipping specifically.
9. Binge watch festival content creators on YouTube or watch livestreams of your favorite artists
Support your fellow content creators on YouTube during this time. We are all trying to pump out content for ya’ll to keep you preoccupied. Myself, Emma Kapotes, Ashley Gauthier, Festival Finnesser, Erika & Frida, Bebe Howell, Becca Grace, Frisky Hug just to name a few that come to mind.
Artists are also doing more Instagram lives and Twitch livestreams to keep in touch with fans and be there for them. Check out to see if your favorite artists will be going live anytime soon. I know I’ve seen Jauz and Subtronics announce some livestreams. I think Seven Lions and his wife and girlfriend went live on Twitch also this week. Check out artists’ social media to see when they’ll go live next.
10. Tune into music or festival related podcasts
Podcasts have been a new wave of content for people to listen to. I started a podcast this year and it has been so amazing to do this for ya’ll. Some other podcasts you can listen to include Emma Kapotes’ Rave Culture Cast, Back to Back Podcast with Willy Joy where he interviews artists, Where’s Amanda is another one, Life is a Festival is another one I found recently. There’s just so much great content out there waiting to be discovered and can definitely give you some food for thought.
Hope this helps! Stay safe inside and make the most of it while you can.
