Taking a break from creating content and being plugged into social media really got me thinking about my why. I thought a lot about what it meant to be to have this platform and it all started because I love music and I love going to music festivals. I thought it’d be fun to reflect on
1. The Music
First and foremost, I wouldn’t be attending these festivals if it weren’t for the music. I love getting to see my favorite artists and songs live. I love seeing how that artist pieces together songs for an hour creating a whole new dynamic. I also love discovering new music when I explore the stages and see artists I hadn’t heard of before. Music has always been and will always be a huge part of my life and festivals are the best opportunity for me to experience it.
2. The People
Whether it’s being surrounded by my best friends smiling and crying while we watch Porter Robinson and Madeon play at Coachella, shuffling with my boyfriend or vibing out with a total stranger, the people make this scene what it is. I have met some of the best people at festivals that have positively impacted my life. People at festivals care for each other and respect one another. I leave festivals with new connections that can foster into new opportunities.
3. The Experience
Festivals allow me to escape even if for a day, a weekend or a week. The way festivals transform into a whole new world is pretty powerful. You forget the outside world and your daily stresses for a moment. You can try new food, take seminars, do yoga and so much more. Festivals are trying to have an all inclusive experience for you to bring more to you than the music so that you leave better than you came. The whole experience beginning to end stays with me. I love the excitement of getting ready, entering the gates for the first time and exploring the festival grounds.
4. I Can Dance However I Want
It might seem or feel silly at first to just dance however you want, but festivals are a judgement-free zone. So let your freak flag fly however you want.
5. Body Confidence
I didn’t really think this would happen when I first went to music festivals, but I have really stepped out my comfort zone when it comes to what I wear at festivals. I used to wear big t-shirts and fishnets, but secretly wished I could wear the two piece sets that all the cute raver girls wore. It wasn’t that I was fat I just wasn’t comfortable with myself to wear that. It has taken some time, but I have made huge progress and now feel comfortable wearing more than just a t-shirt to festivals. I have also done a better job at taking care of myself health and fitness wise as well as my mental space to feel good while I’m rocking my festival outfits.
6. Creating Fun Festival Looks
The reason before has definitely helped this one and has become one of my favorite parts of planning for a festival. I feel confident to wear and experiment with various different brands and clothing. When you go to festivals, you can truly express yourself however you please and you won’t be judged. So I feel supported in whatever I wear thanks to my increase in body confidence and this awesome community.
7. Memories to Last a Lifetime
The amount of stories I have from festivals or favorite moments is never ending. I feel very fortunate I get to experience these festivals and with people that mean so much to me. I’ll never forget staying up til 8:30 in the morning watching Fisher’s sunrise set on Holy Ship or getting to go to my very first EDC. Festivals have become a huge part of my life and the memories I have give me reason to smile even when I have hard days.
8. Opportunity to Travel to New Places
I’ve gotten to see new places of the US thanks to festivals and will (hopefully) one day see more of the world thanks to music festivals. Going to new festivals in places I haven’t been before excites me the most as I love traveling.
9. Supportive Community
Sometimes people can get down on this community saying it’s negative and declining. Where I’d say the opposite. I’ve seen this community band together and stand up against people or situations that aren’t reflective of this community. I always know I have someone to turn to in this community which I am thankful for.
10. Creative Inspiration
Festivals inspire me to keep on creating and I am super grateful for it. Vibe With Ade wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for music festivals. I always leave festivals with new ideas of how I can improve my content or what else I could create.
I hope you enjoyed reading and learning more about what makes festivals so special
